Pinal County, Resolution Copper, Nikola, Lucid, ACA

We are thrilled to host a discussion on three of the biggest economic development projects in our state that just happen to be located right here in Pinal County! Join us on Friday, February 26 to hear from Resolution Copper, Nikola Motor Company, Lucid Motors and the Arizona Commerce Authority!

The Resolution Copper mine near Superior is calculated to meet 25% of the US copper demand each year and will be one of the largest investments in Arizona’s history. It is projected to provide several thousand direct and indirect jobs and several billion dollars of economic value over the life of the mine. With the recent release of the Final Resolution Copper EIS (Environmental Impact Statement), we’ve invited Hesston Klenk, Manager, Governance, Assurance, & Engagement at Resolution Copper to report on their progress.

Nikola Motor Company is currently building their $600 million manufacturing plant in Coolidge; the first phase is scheduled for completion in late 2021, with the second phase projected to be complete within the following 12-18 months. At full production, the facility will produce approximately 35,000 units annually. The project will bring about 1,800 jobs to Coolidge with an overall economic impact of $1 billion by 2025. We’ve invited Mark Duchesne, Head of Global Manufacturing at Nikola Motor Company to provide manufacturing updates.

Lucid Motors recently completed construction on the first greenfield electric vehicle factory in North America and has multiple retails locations open throughout the country to showcase the cars that will be manufactured right here in Pinal County, starting Spring of 2021. When the facility is at full build out in 2028, they will produce up to 400,000 cars annually. The project will bring approximately 4,800 direct and indirect jobs by 2029 as well as an estimated $32 billion revenue impact for the city and county over a 20-year period. We’ve invited Mike Boike, Director Of Manufacturing at Lucid Motors to give us the latest company updates.

We will also be joined by Keith Watkins, Sr. Vice President, Legislative Affairs and Rural Development at Arizona Commerce Authority to hear how these projects have affected overall Pinal County development, putting the county in the spotlight and what we can expect next.
