Coolidge housing market remains strong, says development director

In recent years, Casa Grande and other regional cities have been filling out their “zombie” subdivisions that were planned before the Great Recession. Coolidge is following suit, with the city giving the green light to construction in neighborhoods such as Cross Creek and Heartland Ranch that were laid out more than a decade ago.
In fact, according to Coolidge Development Services Director Gilbert Lopez, Coolidge actually surpassed Casa Grande in building permits — 120 — during the month of January, despite the latter city’s larger size.
“We are starting to see some vacant pieces of older plats are now being brought back and rejuvenated,” Lopez said. “We’re happy to see such a steady rate of building permits.”
