Plans for new housing subdivisions in master-planned communities could be approved by a committee of the city engineer, planning manager, development services principal engineer or principal planner/designee as part of a city code amendment to be considered by the Apache Junction City Council on April 6.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.

Under the plan, preliminary plats for master-planned communities will not be reviewed by the municipality’s Planning and Zoning Commission or council as they are to adhere to a document and will be reviewed by the subdivision committee. The committee shall either approve, approve with conditions or deny applications for preliminary plats, Principal Planner Sidney Urias said in a staff report.
