Coolidge City Council approves outdoor marijuana cultivation despite concerns

After working for months to iron out details, Coolidge now has clear zoning rules for both indoor and outdoor cultivation of marijuana.
The City Council approved language for the latter at their latest meeting on Monday. The amendment has been in play for more than a year, and the final version represented a compromise over varied concerns by council members, including security and distance from residents’ homes.
According to Economic Development Director Gilbert Lopez, local growers asked the city to clarify the zoning code in light of the state legalizing recreational marijuana via Proposition 207.
