Nearly five months after the old Eloy Police Department building was demolished, the second portion of the new public safety building is nearing completion.
On Monday afternoon the Eloy City Council and staff members toured the newly constructed section that will include separate booking areas for adults and juveniles, different evidence storage areas and a small gym.
“It’s just cool,” Mayor Micah Powell said. “It’s different. I think this will improve the morale, it will improve the recruitment process and that’s what we need. We want the best. … We have this for the next 40 or 50 years, it’s a long-term investment. We want to make sure the officers have everything they need to protect themselves.”
