Local violent crime up, but Florence still ranked safest in AZ

Despite having a violent crime rate higher than the next five cities, Florence once again topped the list of Arizona’s safest cities as determined by safety and security resource SafeWise.com.

Working in Florence’s favor was a low property crime rate of only 2.8 incidents per 1,000 residents. Florence was the only city to report fewer than 100 total property crimes, such as burglary, car theft and other larceny or theft.

As usual, also working for Florence was the local prison population, which made it eligible for the study in the first place — the study only ranks municipalities above the state’s median population for a city. Other small cities and towns, such as Coolidge and Eloy, weren’t ranked.
