ACC to consider stripping Johnson Utilities of its monopoly

Whether the local water utility company can continue servicing San Tan Valley unchallenged could be up in the air.
Arizona Corporation Commission staff has filed a recommendation that the commission hold a hearing to consider revoking Johnson Utilities’ certificates of convenience and necessity.
The certificates of convenience and necessity allow a company, in this case Johnson Utilities, to operate a public service like a water utility as a monopoly.
