Apache Junction Prop. 423 OK’d

[NEWS RELEASE] Voters approved Proposition 423, the Permanent Base Adjustment, by a margin of about 72 to 28 percent, according to unofficial returns from Tuesday’s election.

The Permanent Base Adjustment provides flexibility to the locally elected City Council to set its budget each year based on local needs instead of state imposed numbers. The state imposed formula was developed shortly after the city incorporated, had a population of less than 10,000 and had very few services. The city, now with four times the population, has grown to include many more services and continues to meet the needs of the developing community.
