Florence council extends contract with Chamber

The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce has a new executive director, and the Town Council voted to extend its contract with the chamber through June 30, 2019.

Larry Johnson, the new chamber director, told the council he is a Globe native with 15 years of chamber management experience, including nine years in Apache Junction, where membership more than doubled. He said he’s here because he’s passionate about small businesses and small communities.

“I understand there’s been a bit of a faith loss” with the local chamber, but “if I say something, I assure you it will be done,” he told the council on Oct. 1. Councilwoman Karen Wall thanked Johnson for accepting the position and said she looks forward to everything he brings to the organization.
