Global Water adding new facility while looking for future savings

During last week’s work session of the Maricopa City Council, Ron Fleming, President and CEO of Global Water Resources, told council members his company is in the process of constructing a water recycling plant.

According to Fleming, the recycled water is not designated for drinking and instead is used for watering lawns, common areas and schoolyards, and is then pumped back into the ground aquifer.

“Historically we would discharge it into a wash,” Fleming said of the typical excess of water that occurs when the demand is not as high in the winter for recycled wastewater. “What we are now doing is moving forward with our recharge project so instead of discharging it in the wash, we are going to recharge it into the ground so it goes back to the aquifer so it can benefit the community.”
