Small increase in Florence’s impact fees proposed
by Mark Cowling | Florence Reminder & Blade Tribune
Florence’s development impact fee on a single-family home is expected to go up less than 3 percent this year, from $9,147 to $9,357, according to the town’s new impact fee study.
Impact fees are charged to new residential, commercial and industrial construction to cover increased demand on town services. How much fees can be charged and what they can pay for are governed by state law. Those who pay the fees can request refunds if improvements are not built, consultant Carson Bise told the Town Council.
The council adopted a 10-year “Land Use Assumptions and Infrastructure Improvement Plan” and impact fee study on Jan. 7, as a first step toward adopting new fees in the spring.
