Should the town of Florence continue to take applications from parties desiring to locate a medical marijuana dispensary here?
John Anderson: The current town code mandates we accept and have hearings on any new marijuana dispensary applications. However, I support modifying the code to disallow a dispensary in Florence. My experience on the Planning & Zoning Council has taught me that the majority of Florence residents oppose a dispensary in our town.
Arthur Buckley: The law on medical marijuana dispensaries is governed by state and federal law. Thus the question about whether we should take applications is governed by those laws. It is a different question whether not to approve said dispensaries. That would have to be handled on a case-by-case basis as to the merits.
