The City Council has approved the construction of a cellphone tower despite opposition from nearby homeowners.
The tower, which will be constructed on the southwest corner of Kortsen and Trekell roads, will be made to look like a palm tree. It will be located on a 4.65-acre parcel of undeveloped land in the Tierra Palmas neighborhood.
The proposed tower project was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission on March 7 after originally being tabled at an earlier council meeting.
