Public raises concerns over timeline with proposed Coolidge aquatic center

If the city is going to get a new pool complex, it’s going to be the voters who have to be convinced. To make sure they are involved in the process early, an open house took place so they could ask any questions on their minds.

The city is proposing a new aquatic center that would be located on an expanded space around the current pool at Coolidge High School. This would require $5 million in bond money, which would have to be approved by voters in November.

City Manager Rick Miller recalled a similar meeting that was held a few years ago when the city was coming up with its new general plan. They invited the public to the meeting to find out what they want out of the city moving forward, and when it came to recreation, the most popular option was more aquatic options.
