Casa Grande, Pinal face police attrition problem
By Melissa St. Aude | Casa Grande Dispatch
With several officers leaving the Casa Grande Police Department in recent months, Police Chief Johnny Cervantes faced tough questions from some City Council members Tuesday during an hour-and-a-half study session.
Some council members said they were concerned with the number of officers leaving the department.
In August, five officers quit their jobs to work elsewhere. Sixteen department employees have left in the first eight months of 2014, although some retired.
“People do come and go, but I can’t remember a time when five officers left at once to go to the same place,” Councilman Karl Montoya said.
