Casa Grande Ruins National Monument would nearly double in size under a bill that U.S. Rep. Tom O’Halleran reportedly is looking to introduce.

The potential increase to the monument was discussed during the Coolidge City Council meeting on July 8, at which time the council approved a resolution supporting the expansion.

“This will roughly double the size of (the) Casa Grande Ruins,” said Douglas Craig, senior archaeologist with Northland Research Inc. and president of the Friends of Casa Grande Ruins National Monument.
