Costs at the city of Eloy’s landfill are going up, causing the City Council to consider rate increases./City of Eloy
As costs continue to go up, the Eloy City Council is trying to figure out how to pay for its solid waste disposal.
In 2015 the city entered into a five-year contract with Right Away Disposal for solid waste collection. The contract stated that RAD could adjust its rate based on a combination of factors relating to average fuel costs and the consumer price index on an annual basis. Last year, RAD issued a 5% increase in the rate and this year it will increase another 2.13%, which will become effective on Nov. 1.
The monthly base rate before it increased last year was $20.67 for residential trash and recycling and after the 5% increase it was $21.70.
