Sparking fiery debates among governors around the U.S. and lawmakers in Washington D.C., some states are beginning to examine when they will reopen their economies amongst the ongoing pandemic.

But so far, there is no consensus about when that time may come, with some governors like New York’s Andrew Cuomo, whose state was one of the hardest by the pandemic, cautiously projecting that worst of the virus has passed his region.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said that decision to reopen the U.S. economy will ultimately be his. The comment elicited pushback from governors around the country, with some arguing that decision is ultimately up to the states.
