APS seeks more renewables and batteries in 2 RFPs

Regional electric utility Arizona Public Service Co (APS) has launched a couple of requests for proposals (RFPs) to procure renewable energy and battery energy storage for its existing system.
The Phoenix-based company, the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp (NYSE:PNW), is looking to procure between 300 MW and 400 MW of renewable energy resources per year and to address peak capacity needs of about 200 MW-300 MW per year.
The renewables RFP is open to all technologies, including supply side and non-supply side resources, but the proposed projects must become operational in either 2023 or 2024.
