Four members of PCSO recognized for their support of Special Olympics Arizona
At the 8th Annual Breakfast with Champions, four members of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office were
recognized for their work supporting the Special Olympics Arizona.
Law enforcement from around Arizona, including Officer Kris Schroeder, Lieutenant Frances Hawkins, Commander Terry Johnson, and Commander Ruben Montano from PCSO, were recognized for their fundraising efforts and involvement with the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting athletes of Arizona’s Special Olympics.
Last year, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office raised over $3,000 for the Special Olympics and, overall, law enforcement in Arizona raised $1.2 million.
Each spring and summer, members of law enforcement participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run around the world to raise awareness and funding for athletes to participate in the Special Olympics and PCSO remains a committed partner.
At this year’s Breakfast of Champions, Luis Gonzalez – five-time All-Star MLB player and former Diamondbacks’ outfielder – served as the Key Note speaker.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “From alpine-skiing and floor hockey to soccer and basketball, Special Olympics Arizona provides nearly 15,000 athletes with the opportunity to participate various Olympic-type sports. These four individuals represent some of the truly remarkable generosity found at PCSO and I thank them and all of my staff, who eagerly participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run to support all of Arizona’s Special Olympic athletes.”
