Sixteen months after granting a temporary permit to the Florence Copper Project, the state environmental agency has been ordered to take it back for a complete overhaul.
The Arizona Water Quality Appeals Board (WQAB) stopped short of rescinding the permit, as a state hearing officer recommended last month.
Florence Copper has not yet begun extracting mineral as it awaits a federal permit to work a state mineral lease off Hunt Highway.
