Helping hands: AmeriCorps team assists with projects around Pinal County

From building fences and raptor perches to cleaning up graffiti and installing garden boxes, 10 AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps volunteers are spending six weeks lending a helping hand to government agencies and nonprofit organizations around Pinal County.
Assigned to the University of Arizona’s Cooperative Extension office in Casa Grande, the team arrived on Nov. 2.
During that time, they are spanning out across Pinal County to help where needed, said Cathy Martinez, the Pinal County Cooperative Extension Office employee overseeing the AmeriCorps team.
