In keeping with tradition, the Government Relations Committee (GRC) held their Annual Member Appreciation Pancake Breakfast Meeting on December 12th at the Francisco Grande Hotel in Casa Grande. Committee Co-Chairs Rebecca Timmer with Stantec and Richard Rosales with APS organized the event to thank members for their engagement and collaboration throughout 2023. The information and perspectives shared within this committee and its guest speakers are critical exchanges to support the growth and economic development happening in the County and Arizona.
Rebecca kicked the meeting off by honoring Rep. Frank Pratt who we lost a little over a year ago. Frank was a long-time, loyal member of the GRC. He was a collaborator who helped committee members understand what was “really” happening at the Capitol and he communicated in a bipartisan way. For years he was the legendary pancake flipper at the December Pancake Breakfast, so we raised a glass to Frank!
The only formal agenda item had the group review and approve the 2024 Action Plan for the GRC. To view the final 2024 Action Plan, click here.
The committee went into an open forum discussion where most major topics impacting the County were highlighted including water, transportation, growth, education, economic development, housing, health, homelessness, retail and more. We also learned that Representative Keith Seaman and Tony Smith will be among the Dancing for our Stars contestants competing at the Boys and Girls Club Fundraiser to be held March 23, 2024. Richard and Rebecca closed the meeting by thanking committee members, with a special shout out to the elected officials on the committee, along with the great support received all year long by the Pinal Partnership staff, Tony Smith and Rina Rien.
The next PPGRC Meeting will be held virtually on January 23 at 8 am. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
