Congressional District 1 leaning Democratic
CASA GRANDE — Arizona’s Congressional District 1 is considered one of the most competitive districts in the country, but at least one political tracking organization says that race has taken a left turn.
Sabato’s Crystal Ball, a political tracker on centerforpolitics.org, has changed its House of Representatives rating for CD1 from “Toss-up” to “Leans Democratic” in its latest rankings released April 28.
Sabato’s Crystal Ball calls CD1 a “very swingy district with a Republican lean.” However, it notes one advantage for Democrats is they have one clear frontrunner in Tom O’Halleran while the Republicans have a crowded, competitive field.
While the predictor falsely claims O’Halleran is the “single candidate” for the Dems, the point is well-taken that O’Halleran will probably easily defeat his two lesser-known primary opponents, James Maloney and Miguel Olivas.
