Picacho Peak area has deadly storms

PICACHO PEAK — Something happened to Sen. Steve Farley, D-Tucson, in 2013 that changed his perspective on highway safety.
He was driving on Interstate 10 near Picacho Peak when a dust storm suddenly engulfed the freeway. It caused a 19-vehicle pileup and three people lost their lives. Farley wasn’t involved in the accident, though he won’t forget the images of cars crashing into each other and motorists getting killed.
