Public hearing on fee increases set

casa grandeCASA GRANDE — A public hearing is scheduled during Monday’s regular City Council meeting to discuss proposed increases to the city’s wastewater and sanitation fees.

According to the city manager’s prospective budget, wastewater fees are proposed to increase each month by $2 for residential customers. Trash collection fees are proposed to increase by $1.15 per month.

Customers of the city’s small Copper Mountain Ranch Water System with a 1-inch meter could see a monthly increase of $3.88.

Five dollars is the highest amount wastewater fees could rise in the next fiscal year, according to the city’s financial office.

A decision on whether to raise the rates is expected to be made by the council at Monday’s meeting. As at all meetings, members of the public will have an opportunity to make a statement before the council.

A presentation and discussion regarding the wastewater and sanitation fee increases will be held at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 510 E. Florence Blvd., and the regular council meeting will follow at 7.
