ELECTION 2016: Candidates set for supervisor, countywide elections
The slate is set for candidates seeking countywide and supervisor offices this fall in Pinal County.
All five members of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors are set to run again, though each will face at least one challenger.
In District 1, the board’s lone Democrat, Pete Rios, is seeking a third term on the board, with Democratic Mammoth mayor Don Jones challenging him in the primary. Republican Tom Sorensen, of Oracle, will await the winner of that primary in the November general election. Rios is a long-time fixture in Arizona politics, having served in the Arizona State Legislature for nearly two decades prior to being elected to the Pinal Board of Supervisors for the first time in 2008.
