FLORENCE — The Pinal County Board of Supervisors agreed to hold the line on property taxes Wednesday, unanimously approving a budget that would keep the county’s rate at $3.99 per $100 net assessed valuation.

The budget trims roughly $11 million in spending from last year, due in large part to how some capital projects are being funded, but also because of a 3 percent across-the-board reduction the supervisors requested of all county departments earlier this year.

Assistant County Manager Leo Lew told the board that the county’s spending in relation to the property taxes paid by the general public has declined in recent years — from 31 cents of every dollar in fiscal year 2011 to 25 cents of each dollar for the 2017 fiscal year budget, which begins July 1.
