Pinal County roads$54M grant to speed widening in county

WASHINGTON — A $54 million federal highway grant has been awarded for two Pinal County Interstate 10 improvement projects, it was announced Tuesday.

The two projects in the Arizona Department of Transportation’s five-year plan include widening two stretches of I-10 from two lanes each way to three lanes each way near Casa Grande and Picacho.

Arizona Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Flagstaff, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, announced the U.S. Department of Transportation’s FASTLANE program grant award in a press release.

“This is a big win for communities across Pinal County and for our southern Arizona economy,” Kirkpatrick said. “I fought for this funding because I’ve heard from local leaders, workers and families who rely on this busy interstate in their daily lives — I know they welcome these road improvements and safety measures.”
