Smaller fee hike on utilities approved
CASA GRANDE — Residents can expect to pay more for sewer and trash service this year after the Casa Grande City Council adopted a new fee schedule Monday night.
Residential fees will increase by $2.40 per month for trash and wastewater services. It’s an amount much lower than the $8 increase originally proposed by the city earlier this year.
City officials have previously stated the higher fees are needed to pay off a looming debt from when the city’s wastewater treatment plant was expanded in 2009.
Rates were increased last year as well, yet Casa Grande’s utility costs remain in the middle when compared to nearby cities and towns in Pinal County.
