East Valley Adult Resources Discontinuing Role in Apache Junction Services

City Commits to Keeping Most Critical Operations

APACHE JUNCTION – East Valley Adult Resources has informed the city of Apache Junction that changes in their funding allocation is forcing them to discontinue services in the city.

The city has begun researching alternatives to the most critical of services East Valley Adult Resources has offered.

“We are saddened to see East Valley Adult Resources leave our city after 20 years of serving our citizens,” said Liz Langenbach, director of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation, which played host to the Senior Services center at the Multigenerational Center. “We have had a long, successful relationship and certainly understand the economic challenges facing us all. We are confident we can find alternatives to keep our most critical programs and services intact.”

Under its agreement with the city, East Valley Adult Resources is contracted to provide services through Nov. 11. Once the city has alternatives in place, a transition plan will be announced.

East Valley Adult Resources offered programs for seniors, transportation and meals under its agreement with the city of Apache Junction.

“We all care about our participants and want to do everything possible to ensure the continuation of these critical services,” said Linda Volhein, interim chief executive officer of East Valley Adult Resources. “We are committed to ensuring there is a smooth transition of services with the least disruption possible to participants.”
