State to send first batch of inmates to Eloy private prison

ELOY (AP) — Arizona is sending its first group of inmates to a privately operated prison as part of an expansion project meant to alleviate prison crowding.
The Arizona Republic reports (http://bit.ly/2aba7R9 ) that the 25 inmates will move into the Red Rock Correctional Center in Eloy on Tuesday. The state Department of corrects plans to transfer 1,000 medium-custody inmates to southern Pinal County by January.
