Jobless figures for Pinal, state both show decline
The state’s jobless rate is finally ticking down again after four straight months of gains, while Pinal County continues its downward trend.
New figures Thursday show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August of 5.8 percent. That’s down two-tenths of a point from July, a figure that matched the August 2015 rate. In Pinal County the rate edged closer to the state average coming in at 6 percent, down from 6.3 percent in July and 6.7 percent last August.
But the declines are not because the economy is necessarily growing.
