State, utility release reading results, explain STV water testing process

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officially deemed Johnson Utilities’ water safe Tuesday evening, and offered further explanation of the testing process for residents who may still have questions about the quality of their drinking water.

ADEQ issued a warning Dec. 2 after receiving Oct. 27 and Nov. 21 samples from Johnson Utilities showing nitrate levels higher than federal standards allow.

Johnson Utilities issued a news release Wednesday afternoon stating that their certified lab results showed a nitrate level of 7.15 mg/L, whereas the federal limit is 10 mg/L.
