Board of Supervisors approves sale of PCSO helicopter by narrow margin

The sale of a Pinal County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was approved by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors during Wednesday’s meeting.
In a tight 3-to-2 vote in favor of the sale, the supervisors largely agreed that the 1997 MD 600 currently used by the department had to go, especially considering approaching maintenance costs as high as $70,000.
That price tag is attached to a January service cycle, according to PCSO Chief Deputy Steve Henry. Though supervisors questioned whether this decision should be left up to Sheriff-elect Mark Lamb in the new year, the prospect of avoiding continued costs appeared to win the day.
