Residents of Casa Grande historic district want to be able to ‘opt-out’

Whoever said you can’t fight city hall never met the residents of the Evergreen Historic District.
After listening to the concerns of residents who live in the city’s historic district, the Casa Grande City Council on Monday directed staff to begin working on revisions to a proposal for changes in the Historic Preservation Code.
A major sticking point to residents was having an ability to opt-out of the historic district and the rules associated with owning homes in the district. City staff was directed to determine the implications that could arise with allowing certain properties to leave the district.
