Parched land: Drought conditions dominate Pinal region

With a lackluster winter for rainfall, the region heads into the monsoon season anywhere between 2 and 21⁄2 inches below normal rainfall this year.
According to Jessica Nolte, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Phoenix office, typically the area sees around 3 inches by this time but portions of the region are barely registering an inch.
