Villago plat approved; no time frame on construction

Planning commissioners granted preliminary approval to subdivide 372 acres in the undeveloped portion of the Villago subdivision, paving the way for future development.

However, no homes are proposed to be built immediately, causing some confusion for residents who spoke at the city Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Thursday.

Communities Southwest, a land developer, has purchased about 1,700 acres in the currently undeveloped portions in the north and east portions of the subdivision. On Thursday, commissioners approved subdividing the 372 acres into 1,198 lots and planning the streets, rights of way and easements. Lot sizes will vary, allowing for a variety of homes to be built there in the future, but city planner Joe Horn said the lot sizes would be “relatively similar” to the lots in the already built portion.
