New MUSD superintendent talks walkout, growth, community

For the incoming superintendent of the Maricopa Unified School District, the responsibility is of taking over not only inherited issues in the school district, but also planning for its future.

Dr. Tracey Lopeman, who was officially hired by the MUSD board on April 16, is highly aware of all she is taking on, and she said she is ready for the challenge. She said she was first attracted to the position because it is a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade district, which she said is a wonderful opportunity.

“And it has a rich history in the town, and it is growing in enrollment,” she said.
